I don’t know about you, but I LOVE a good sci-fi or superhero film. One such film is here at that the Saint Louis Science Center’s OMNIMAX theatre running July 20th - August 19th: The Dark Knight Rises.

You might ask, “Well, Cate, what does this have to do with science?” Answer: Like everything in life there IS science involved because science is all around us. You just have to look closely to learn and become aware. Unlike all the famous superheroes (Superman, The Hulk, Green Lantern, ect.), Batman is one of the few heroes not to possess a “super” power. He uses critical thinking, athletic skills, and some COOL scientific gadgets to fight crime in Gotham City. Similar to the Star Trek exhibit we had here October to May; Batman inspires our creativity and makes us feel larger than life. (Though I think that the mask, costume and high-tech car add a good deal to his reputation and heroic appeal.)
