Quantum Mechanics Blows Our Mind AGAIN!
For every effect, there is a cause. At least that’s what I was taught. If you see the effect then you know the cause happened or vise versa: If you see the cause you can assume that the effect will happen. Well apparently that doesn’t work anymore now we can measure a result BEFORE the experiment!
Bare with me because this is quantum mechanics (the study of REALLY small things) and when you get this small things don’t work as one would expect. It turns out that two quantum particles (yes even SMALLER then an atom) can be entangled or connected. In this experiment the decision of whether or not these to particles will be entangled is made by one person and then a different person measures the entanglement.
All of that sounds good and makes sense to me but here is where my mind gets blown!
The people measuring the "entanglement" make measurements BEFORE the particles are entangled.
It’s okay if you don’t get this, I don’t either but I think it’s really cool. Check it out here at Popular Science and see if you can make any sense out of it.
